Most of the 74 Whitsunday islands are uninhabited national park — but four are home to resorts, each with its own character, and all open to visiting charter guests. Swap the galley for a gourmet lunch, the swim platform for a poolside cocktail, then sail on. On a skippered or superyacht charter, your crew takes care of the berths entirely.

HAMILTON ISLAND
Hamilton Island Resort
The busiest and biggest of the island resorts — more than 60 activities, a lively marina village with everything from supermarket to bottle shop on its western side, and resorts, restaurants and beautiful Catseye Beach to the east. Race go-karts, meet a koala, or play the championship course on neighbouring Dent Island.
Charter access: book a day or overnight berth in advance — around $300/night over Christmas–New Year. Marina closed to visitors during Race Week (August). The Hamilton Island app has current details.
HAYMAN ISLAND
InterContinental Hayman Island Resort
The most exclusive address in the Whitsundays. Arriving by yacht at Hayman is an occasion in itself — exceptional dining, indulgent spa experiences and one of Australia's most celebrated resort settings, whether you call in for the day or stay the night.
Charter access: berths in Hayman Marina must be requested and confirmed in advance — no entry to the marina without confirmation.
DAYDREAM ISLAND
Daydream Island Resort
Fresh from a major redevelopment, Daydream pairs modern rooms and a revitalised pool scene with three restaurants and three bars — plus the Living Reef, an open-air coral lagoon you can walk right around, alive with marine life.
Charter access: four private moorings on the eastern side for vessels to 11.5m (38ft), by the 8-hour block or overnight — book with the island directly. A per-person landing fee applies for resort facilities.
LONG ISLAND
Palm Bay Resort
A boutique hideaway in the neck of Long Island — closest of all to the mainland, 9km long yet barely 400m across. Balinese-inspired villas ring a private cove, with 13km of national park walking trails, fringing reefs and secluded bays beyond. The Whitsundays' only self-catering resort.
Charter access: moorings by application. The resort prizes privacy and intimacy — smart casual attire ashore, please.
South Molle Island - Worth the Anchorage
The largest of the Molle group sits at the heart of the Whitsundays, its resort currently closed for refurbishment — no dining or accommodation ashore for now. But with grassland hills, pockets of rainforest fringing reef and bushwalks to amazing lookouts, it remains a beautiful stop by anchor (the moorings are not currently in survey, so anchor only).
